Pope Leo XIV has reaffirmed the importance of Gregorian chant and sacred music in Catholic worship during a catechesis on Sacrosanctum Concilium. The Pope said music is “not merely decoration” and recalled the Council’s teaching that Gregorian chant should have “pride of place” in the Roman liturgy
