Convoy at Al Qa'im
I recently returned from Al Qa'im where I spent Thursday through Sunday last. The base is housed in a pre-war train railhead facility with giant warehouses, 14 miles from the Syrian border.
On Friday, the feast of St Matthew, I participated for the first time in a convoy to battle position Tarawa near the town of Karabala, where I celebrated Mass, and to a combat position, before returning to the base at Al Qa'im.
Yesterday's celebration of SS. Cosmas and Damian, Syrian martyrs, was particularly significant for us here, so close as we are to their place of martyrdom.
