The Lord can work any miracle. He can sustain us in grace through the sacraments also at a distance. He is the same Lord who performed many miracles of nature visible to the eye. This was to confirm for our Faith that He is also capable of saving our souls.
His work of salvation continues and grows for us even when we must make a spiritual Communion out of the sincere desire to attend holy Mass on the Lord’s Day but are unable through no fault of our own.
“Now I know that the LORD saves His anointed; He will answer him from His holy heaven With the saving strength of His right hand.” Psalm 20, 6
