Postcards from Italy: Padova e la Basilica del Santo

Santuario di San Leopoldo. “Chiuso per riposo”, so we prayed outside.

Side altar in the Basilica del Santo. In Padova everyone knows you intend St Anthony when you address him as “il Santo”. He dominates the spiritual landscape like no other.

Rear side of the tomb. Pilgrims pray and touch the marble sarcophagus to beg his intercession.

I was there in 2015. We stayed directly across the street from the Basilica. And just walking through town at the Church of St. Guistina, we discovered the tomb of St. Luke. Also went to the tomb of St. Leopoldo Mandic. And, if I recall, the tomb of Bl. Luke Belludi is in the Basilica as well.

Ave Maria!

Thank you for visiting.
