Christ restores the children to the Father, "clothed" in grace and in "right mind"

Absalom's rebellion against his father David is a monstrous inversion of the bonds of nature. In like manner, but on a scale far greater, is the rebellion of man and woman in cooperation with the Evil One. Creation rises up in suicidal rejection of the Creator, sole source of light and life and love.

Christ is the Exorcist, sent by the Father to cast out demons.

He "restores lost innocence", presenting the once-rebellious children, and all of creation, back to the Father; like the Gerasene demoniac, we are "clothed" in the garment of baptismal grace, with mind and heart "restored" to knowledge and love of God, ready to do His holy will.

And He sends us: "Go home to your family and tell them all that the Lord in his pity has done for you." (Mark 5:1-20)
