Biden signs abortion executive order: 'Right to choose' is 'essential'

President Joe Biden signed an executive order Friday aimed at protecting abortion access in response to the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
“This is a choice,” he said before signing the order July 8. “A moment to restore the rights that have been taken away from us, and the moment to protect our nation from an extremist agenda that is antithetical to everything we believe as Americans.”
He repeatedly referred to abortion as “health care” and called abortion drugs “medication.”
Biden, a Catholic, has repeatedly supported abortion in contrast with the Catholic Church’s teaching that human life must be respected and protected from the moment of conception.
The continued battle over Vatican II seems to be more about an idea of the Council and its implementation, rather than focusing on its actual legitimacy.

The Second Vatican Council (1962-65) was a unique ecumenical council. The previous twenty were assembled to address particular doctrinal or ecclesial crises, while John XXIII called Vatican II to layout a new pastoral program for engaging the modern world. It was not a particular crisis but a general one, focused on finding a new way of conveying the Christian life in the modern world.
In the aftermath of the Council, both progressive and traditional wings viewed it as revolutionary, a sharp break from the previous practice of the Church. It did not help that the 1960s were a period of great cultural turmoil, adding fuel to the fire of confusion and disaffiliation that occurred in the Church.
Pope Benedict XVI, who as a peritus or theological expert at the Council had helped draft some of the documents as part of the progressive party, looked back with concern and identified two major ways of interpreting the Council: a hermeneutic of “discontinuity and rupture” and one of “reform” in continuity with the tradition. The “Spirit of Vatican II” belonged to the former interpretation and came to stand for a whole new way of thinking, praying, teaching, and living as a Catholic in the modern world, marked by a much greater openness to the world and aversion to traditional Catholic practices.
It seemed that the pontificates of John Paul II and Benedict XVI were steering the Church toward continuity, although Pope Francis has led a reemergence of the progressive camp.
Francis has repeatedly called attention to what he views as a growing rejection of the Second Vatican Council. Speaking to editors of European Jesuit journals on May 19, he related this view: “It is very difficult to see spiritual renewal using old-fashioned criteria. We need to renew our way of seeing reality, of evaluating it. . . . Restorationism has come to gag the Council. The number of groups of ‘restorers’ – for example, in the United States there are many – is significant. . . .They had never accepted the Council.”
Commenting on these remarks, Ed Condon at The Pillar made an important clarification: “Vatican II is more of a feeling, or state of mind, than an historical event that produced tangible documents.” An outright rejection of the Council is rare, although many people have questioned the effectiveness of the pastoral and liturgical approach that sought to implement the Council’s vision.

Biden Set To Sign Executive Order On Abortion Friday
Joe Biden is expected to sign a highly anticipated executive order the White House is promising will protect access to reproductive healthcare services, including abortion and contraception, two weeks after the reversal of Roe V Wade. It is Biden’s first-ever move to protect the killing of unborn babies.
According to a Fact Sheet from the White House, “Biden has made clear that the only way to secure a woman’s right to choose is for Congress to restore the protections of Roe as federal law. Until then, he has committed to doing everything in his power to defend reproductive rights and protect access to safe and legal abortion.”
As part of the order, Biden will direct Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra to secure the availability of medication abortion, emergency contraception, and intrauterine devices through Obamacare and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
The Traditional Latin Mass, in my experience, evangelizes in ways that the Novus Ordo does not.
In a new document issued June 29 this year, Desiderio Desideravi, Pope Francis makes claims about the Novus Ordo, which do not hold up and which better describe, in fact, the Traditional Latin Mass.
So often those who pronounce with authority on the Traditional Liturgy do not pray it and thus do not know or understand it. I have offered the two liturgies side by side for over a decade, observing most closely the prayer, and effects on the faithful praying, attending each.
He criticizes the Church’s Traditional Liturgy as a kind of empty formalism which cannot evangelize, when that is exactly what it has done for nearly 2,000 years.
Bishop Schneider is calling for acts of reparation not only for Pelosi’s sacrilege but 'for those in the Vatican who permit this,' such as Pope Francis.

(LifeSiteNews) — Bishop Athanasius Schneider has decried U.S. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s “sacrilegious” reception of Holy Communion as a pathway to her soul’s damnation.
In response to Pelosi’s obstinate reception of Holy Communion even after she was barred from the Eucharist by her local bishop, Schneider singled her out as the “poorest” figure “in this horrible scenario of this sacrilegious communion” in a Tuesday interview with Terry Barber on The Terry and Jesse Show.
Schneider told Barber that in receiving the Eucharist despite her mortal sin of supporting the killing of innocents in abortion, Pelosi must be pitied, because “she is consciously, stubbornly eating her judgment.”
Schneider echoed the words of St. Paul, who warned, “Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of profaning the body and blood of the Lord. Let a man examine himself, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For any one who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment upon himself.” [1 Corinthians 11:27-29]
