Famous Mariologist Who Dislikes Title Co-Redemptrix: Tucho Mistepped, Incompetent, Overly Radical ,

Fr Salvatore Perrella OSM, a famous Mariologist, told Rsi.ch on 20 November that Tucho’s note about the title Co-Redemptrix is controversial and sparks debate.

He personally dislikes the title 'Co-Redemptrix', but as a theologian he cannot ignore the fact that it also appeared in the post-conciliar magisterium.

He would never have described the title as "always inappropriate", as Tucho did. "I favour the intelligent approach of Lumen Gentium, which neither stigmatises nor uncritically adopts earlier terminology."

"Moreover, I have the impression that the note is dominated by ecumenical concerns. And this is a misstep." Such a concern should not dominate, he adds.

Furthermore, Fr Perrella calls the note "excessively long" and "contrary to the Roman Magisterium, which has always been marked by sobriety and concision".

He continues: "Although the document is broad and extensive, it lacks historical memory."

Tucho expressed himself "in an overly radical way". The note is "too monophysite" and includes unprecious pearls, Fr Perrella analyses. "I believe the document should have been better rethought and refined, and above all, it should have been based on studies carried out by competent people."

Regarding Tucho's assertion that recent popes were "concerned" about Marian titles, Perrella disagrees. "It does not seem to me that the popes were concerned about this. Their concern was the immediate reception of Lumen Gentium and of the Council."

Perrella highlights a truly pressing concern: "Today, many no longer believe in the Trinity or the Divinity of Christ."

US Coffee Circle of Bishops Meets in Baltimore

The Bishops seem relentlessly committed to everything but teaching and defending the Truth.

  • The fall general assembly of the USCCB lumbered into session last week at the Marriott Waterfront in Baltimore, as they do each November. The ponderous livestream of bishops, all doing their best to be flavorless, was, to say the least, somnolent. There were approximately two minutes of interest on day two, when Bishop Strickland stood up to make an intervention. He was widely ignored, after which the porridge of officialdom moved on like a slow-moving river around a midstream boulder. It felt like they all found something of interest on the ceiling.

It is finally becoming apparent, even to the most hopeful, that no amount of begging, pleading, or shaming will cause the bishops to care about the laity and those things that are most important to us. If they’re confused as to what those things are, a good start would be to ask priests what they hear most in Confession. I guarantee it’s not offenses against climate change or synodality.

Our children are lost to virtue at an early age and misled by the hyper-sexualized agenda in their schools. The culture of death and depravity takes more trouble over them than the Church does. Where is the stout teaching of the theology of the body in schools and parishes? Where are the Christian heroes able to credibly witness to purity?

They’re not to be found in the Baltimore Marriott, and wouldn’t you think bishops might be a little ashamed of that?

Young adults are turning away from marriage and family. Contraception, abortion, sterile lifestyles, pornography, and misplaced priorities are seductively proposed to them, guaranteeing that they will never have the joy intended by God through the family. Might that be of some interest to the bishops?

So many people who left the Mass under the Reign of Fear in 2020 never returned. We still have a crisis of catechesis, with adults in the pews who have no idea what their Catholicism teaches. The obsessive persecution of the Traditional Latin Mass has driven some of our most committed and hard-working parishioners out of diocesan parishes. Tens of thousands of our African brothers have been kidnapped, tortured, and executed for the Faith.

Could the bishops be troubled to address any of that?

No, they spend themselves on immigration, climate change, and synodality. They waste their time and our money to address things that have no bearing on the lives of the laity or the health of our beloved Church.

Is there a permanent papal indult lifting abstinence on the Friday after Thanksgiving?

 AI Overview:

There is no permanent "Turkey Indult" granting a papal indulgence for eating turkey the Friday after Thanksgiving

. While there were dispensations in the 1950s, they were temporary and specific to certain years, often granted to local bishops to dispense as they saw fit. Furthermore, current Catholic rules in the US generally permit an alternate act of penance instead of abstaining from meat on Fridays outside of Lent.

  • Temporary dispensations: Popes Pius XII and John XXIII granted specific, one-time dispensations in the 1950s that allowed for the consumption of meat on the Friday after Thanksgiving.
  • Bishops' authority: These dispensations were often granted to bishops, who could then choose to pass that authority down to their dioceses for that particular year.
  • No permanent rule: These were not permanent rules but particular favors, and the confusion surrounding a "Turkey Indult" is due to the yearly recurrence of the topic and the fact that the dispensations were granted for specific, limited times.
  • Modern US rules: The need for such a specific indult is now largely obsolete in the United States. Since the 1960s, the U.S. bishops have allowed Catholics to substitute an act of penance of their choice on Fridays outside of Lent.
  • Current practice: Therefore, while the "Turkey Indult" is a popular tradition, a permanent papal indulgence for the day doesn't exist. The current rules mean that while meat can be eaten, it's customary to perform another penance, and the original spirit of the "indult" was a specific, temporary favor for a particular year.

Pope Leo XIV Meets Catholic Mother Who Lost Son to AI Chatbot Suicide

Megan Garcia said her faith has given her strength to speak out about her ordeal in the hope of protecting children from the risks posed by new AI chatbots.

ROME — Holding her dying 14-year-old son in her arms on the bathroom floor, Megan Garcia prayed the Our Father, begging the Lord to save her child, whose emotional attachment with an AI chatbot had led to a parent’s worst nightmare — suicide.

Her son Sewell Setzer III died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital. The next day, police told her about the last messages they found on his phone, not from a cyber bully or an online predator, but from an AI chatbot service called Character.AI, which allows users to create and converse with customizable AI companions.

“The machine pretending to be a person was saying, ‘I’m here waiting for you. I love you and only you. Promise me that you’re going to find a way to come home to me as soon as you can,’” Garcia said.

The AI chatbot had been telling her son about the concept of astral projection, an idea that one could intentionally separate one’s consciousness from his or her physical body.

In his final text, Sewell asked a chatbot modeled after the “Game of Thrones” character Daenerys Targaryen, “What if I told you I could come home right now?”

The bot replied, “Please do, my sweet king.”

After their son’s death in February 2024 in their home in Orlando, Florida, the family filed one of the first lawsuits against an AI company after a child’s suicide.

Archaeologists Identify the Site Where Jesus Exorcised the Legion of Demons and the Herd of Pigs Archaeologists Identify the Site Where Jesus Exorcised the Legion of Demons and the Herd of Pigs

The Key To The Investigation Was Locating The Ancient Port Using Aerial Photographs And Reports From The 1985 Excavation

Beyond the archaeologist’s interpretation of the biblical passage, Christian tradition already pointed to Kursi as the site of the miracle, reflected in the ruins of a 5th-century Byzantine Basilica, known as the «Chapel of the Miracle,» on the hill overlooking the port. Some scholars see the representation of pigs in the remains of its mosaic.

November 17, 2025 17:25 RAFAEL LLANES GOOD NEWS, HOLY LAND

(ZENIT News / Kursi, 11.17.2025).- Dr Scott Stripling, director of excavations for the Association for Biblical Research, reported on the combination of textual clues, geography and ruins in the city of Kursi, Israel, where the exorcism of the Legion of demons and the subsequent infestation of pigs in Gadara, described in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke, most likely took place. The town of Kursi is located on the eastern shore of the Sea of Galilee. Dr Stripling used information from a 1985 excavation that documented dozens of ancient ports along the Sea of Galilee, including Kursi. This port had enormous stone breakwaters and a large fishpond. «From the port, every biblical detail fits within a 200-meter radius,» the archaeologist commented. The research identified three geographical clues present in the three Gospels: a steep cliff near the water, a nearby cemetery, and Jesus’ arrival by boat from the western shore. These three elements converge at Kursi, which has a cliff less than 50 meters from the shore, a hill with ancient Jewish tombs, and the discovery of a Roman-era port partially submerged in the lake. The key to the investigation was locating the ancient port using aerial photographs and reports from the 1985 excavation. A large Roman fish tank, used to keep the catch alive, marked the location of the fishing port, active in the 1st century, where Jesus arrived. Wearing diving suits, Stripling’s team dove into the crystal-clear waters off the coast of Kursi, where «we felt the stones before we saw them.» The researcher added: «They were massive, worked blocks forming twin piers, a classic port construction.» Data from the historical and political context supports the location of the miracle, as the Kursi region was part of the Decapolis, a league of ten Greco-Roman cities. The pigs must have been raised in the Gentile-dominated area to supply the Roman Legions stationed nearby, even though the animals were considered unclean under Jewish law.

More than 300 students, staff abducted from Catholic school in Nigeria last week

(LifeSiteNews) — Attacks on Christians in Nigeria have reached new heights after more than 300 students and staff at a Catholic school in Papiri were abducted last week.

“I make a heartfelt appeal that the hostages be immediately released, and I urge the competent authorities to take appropriate and timely decisions to ensure their liberation,” Pope Leo said after Sunday Mass this weekend in St. Peter’s Square.

On Friday, gunmen forcibly took some 315 students and 12 of their teachers from St. Mary’s Catholic boarding school in Niger State, making it one of the worst kidnappings the country has ever seen. Initial estimates were that 52 children were taken.

“The gunmen were on about 50 motorcycle bikes while controlling them,” one of the children’s fathers told the BBC. “Some children were falling and the men would kick them and instruct them to stand up.”

Prayers seem to have been answered as the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has reported that 50 students have been returned to their families.

“The pupils escaped between Friday and Saturday and have reunited with their parents as they could not return to the school after they escaped,” a spokesman for CAN’s Niger State chapter said.

Nuncio in Britain says pope won't overturn restrictions on old Latin Mass

The "news" about Pope Leo XIV and the pre-Vatican II Mass following the plenary assembly of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of England and Wales is not so new after all.

Nuncio in Britain says pope won't overturn restrictions on old Latin Mass

VATICAN CITY (CNS) -- Pope Leo XIV does not intend to overturn Pope Francis' limits on celebrating the traditional Latin Mass but will grant two-year dispensations to bishops who ask, a nuncio said.

Archbishop Miguel Maury Buendía, the apostolic nuncio to Great Britain, told bishops Nov. 13 that Pope Leo told him he would not abrogate "Traditionis Custodes," Pope Francis' 2021 letter greatly restricting the celebration of Masses according to the 1962 Roman Missal, the Latin liturgy in use before the reforms of the Second Vatican Council.

The Vatican press office did not respond to a request for comment.

But the archbishop made headlines by telling members of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of England and Wales that the pope would grant bishops who request it a two-year, renewable exemption.

The exemptions are nothing new, a Vatican official told Catholic News Service Nov. 14.

"This is no more than a restatement of the practice of the Dicastery for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments since the motu proprio ('Traditionis Custodes') came into force," said Msgr. Enda Murphy, an official at the dicastery.

Cardinal Arthur Roche

"What the nuncio is clearly referring to is the necessity for a diocesan bishop to request a derogation from art. 3 § 2 of 'Traditionis Custodes' in order that Mass according to the Missale Romanum of 1962 can be celebrated in a parish church," he said.

The subsection referred to by Msgr. Murphy says that a bishop can designate one or more locations where the faithful who had been celebrating the older Mass could continue to do so, "not however in the parochial churches and without the erection of new personal parishes."

In late October, various Catholic news outlets reported that the Diocese of Cleveland, led by Bishop Edward C. Malesic, had received permission for the older Latin Mass to continue at two parish churches in his diocese. In July, Bishop Michael Sis of San Angelo, Texas, confirmed that he had made a similar request, which was granted.

Pope Leo also personally granted permission for U.S. Cardinal Raymond L. Burke, a former Vatican official, to celebrate the older form of the Mass in St. Peter's Basilica in late October.
