Summer of Mercy 2.0 to Feature "All-Star" Line-Up of National Pro-life Leaders

Germantown, MD - An "All-Star" line-up of nationally-known speakers have confirmed that they will participate in the Summer of Mercy 2.0 pro-life event, scheduled for July 30 through August 7.

The event will focus on abortionist Leroy Carhart, who recently began doing a late-term abortions at clinic in Germantown, Maryland, after Nebraska passed a law that made the grisly abortions illegal in that state last year.  A series of rallies and full schedule of prophetic street activism has been planned for the nine-day event.

The kick off rally for the event will be Sunday, July 30, at 7:00 PM at Covenant Life Church, 7501 Muncaster Mill Road, Gaithersburg, Maryland 20877.  It will feature Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director, Priests for Life, who is an encouraging and powerful advocate for the pre-born.

Confirmed speakers include:

  •  Father Frank Pavone, National Director, Priests for Life
  • Joe Scheidler, Director, Pro-life Action League
  • Star Parker, Columnist and President  of the Center for Urban Renewal   Education, (CURE)
  • Wendy Wright, President, Concerned Women of America
  • Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney, Director, Christian Defense Coalition
  • Troy Newman, President, Operation Rescue

In addition, several local Maryland Pastors and leaders are also scheduled to speak.

"We are excited at the overwhelming support for this event in the pro-life community.  It promises to be a powerful time of prayer and public witness.  We encourage all who can to join me and this all-star line-up of pro-life heroes in Germantown from July 30 through August 7 for nine days of standing in the gap for the babies," said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman.

Ask Obama to Withdraw Pro-abortion Steve Six's Federal Appeals Court Nomination!

We have gathered the evidence that Obama's pro-abortion nominee to the Federal Appeals Court has a history of protecting abortionists and allowing his personal and political biases affect his professional judgment.  There is no doubt that he is unfit to serve.  (Read more.)

Even both Senators from Six's home state of Kansas, Pat Roberts and Jerry Moran, have said they will not support his confirmation.

Operation Rescue has called on Obama to withdraw Six's nomination.

Please join us in opposition to this nomination by contacting the White House and demanding that Obama withdraw Steve Six's name from consideration for the Federal Appeals Court.

Seeking Information from Pro-life Activists!

Operation Rescue is asking pro-life activists around the nation to contact Operation Rescue with the name(s) of known abortionists in their communities for a special research project that is now underway that could help expose the full scope of abortion misdeeds nationwide.

"We have found that information about troubled abortionists is not easily accessible, even with several states providing disciplinary records," said Sullenger. "The worst of the worst often fly under the radar, as was the case with accused murderer Kermit Gosnell, whose horrific late-term abortion/infanticide operation was discovered accidentally when police raided his clinic thinking it was a 'pill mill'.

"We are currently conducting a massive research project to identify every abortionist in the country along with information about discipline, malpractice cases, and other problems. This is a huge project that could have national impact on the abortion cartel, which thrives when shrouded in secrecy. That's why we need help from the pro-life community."

Operation Rescue is asking activists from every community in America to call or e-mail information about abortionists in their areas. We are looking for the names of abortionists and the name of the clinic where they work. We would also appreciate any documentation concerning board discipline, criminal history, malpractice cases, verifiable botched abortions and other similar information. Once compiled, the information will be made available on-line.

Please call 1-316-683-6790 ext. 103 or e-mail the information to contact@operationrescue.org.

"Kneeling for Communion remains universal"

"Pope Benedict's intention - BEYOND INDULTS AND PERMISSIONS - that kneeling for Communion remains universal"

-- Msgr Guido Marini, the Papal Master of Ceremonies, in recent remarks addressed to a conference in Rome on "Celebrating the Feast of Corpus Christi."

Mgr Marini after his talk.

Among other things, the papal Master of Ceremonies spoke of the ancient tradition of focusing on Christ in a physical way in the sacred liturgy, either though the eastwards orientation of the Eucharistic Prayer or where the crucifix or other image of Christ (the great panto-creator images on the apse of ancient churches) stood in for the eastward orientation. He thought that recently we have been in danger of losing this and that this is not a small detail but something of central importance, for in the past everyone (including the priest) prayed towards the same point - showing that the Lord was coming and that together we all looked towards Him.

Mgr Marini also posited that kneeling before the presence of the Lord makes it all the clearer that it really is Jesus and implies our adoration of Him. Not that we just receive Him but that we kneel before Him. To kneel accomplishes the truth of our relationship with Him - we adore. This is true freedom because man submits to slavery to many other earthly things - we bow down before these false gods - but to kneel before Christ expressses the truth and therefore reveals the dignity of man before the Lord of Life. Kneeling is the TYPICAL sign of offering our hearts and lives. The Church that kneels in the body will adore in the heart.

MGR. MARINI ASKED US TO LISTEN ANEW TO WHAT THE HOLY FATHER SAYS ABOUT THESE THINGS IN HIS WRITINGS AND BY HIS EXAMPLE IN THE PAPAL LITURGIES.

Of the Holy Father's example in the Papal liturgies where Holy Communion is now always administered by Pope Benedict on the tongue to kneeling communicants he said that it was the Holy Father's practice and intention - BEYOND INDULTS AND PERMISSIONS - that this remains a law of universal character. That Holy Communion received on the tongue and kneeling was more than just the Pope's personal desire. The Holy Father's intention is that people and priests follow his example.

14th Sunday. "I will give you rest": in God we are restored to the Faith which is stronger than any discouragement or weariness in life

Weariness is part of the cycle of living.

At this point in the summer, some of our priests who face the transition to a new parish assignment may find themselves weary of packing and unpacking. Perhaps some who were looking forward to a break from the winter now realize they have become weary of the heat. Those who escape the mundane of home and the familiar by vacationing sometimes find themselves weary of vacation itself and find returning home a source of refreshment. The cycle of waking and sleeping, working and resting, being away on vacation and being at home, all of these point to our need for restoration and refreshment as part of the reality of being human.

Some people have been heard to say that they have become weary of faith and, tragically, respond by dropping out of attending Sunday Mass or giving up on daily prayer or failing to receive the Sacrament of confession after committing mortal sin.

From rashly entering the clergy, * deliver us, Jesus
From the sin of sacrilege,
From the spirit of incontinence,
From sordid pursuits,
From every lapse into simony,
From the unworthy administration of the Church’s treasures,
From the love of the world and its vanities,
From the unworthy celebration of Your Mysteries,
Through Your eternal priesthood,
Through the holy anointing whereby You were constituted a priest by God the Father,
Through Your priestly spirit,
Through that ministry whereby You glorified Your Father on earth,
Through the bloody immolation of Yourself made once and for all upon the Cross,
Through that same sacrifice daily renewed upon the altar,
Through that divine power which You exercise invisibly in Your priests,

That You would deign to maintain the whole priestly order in holy religion, * We beseech You, hear us
That You would deign to provide Your people with pastors after Your own heart,
That You would deign to fill them with the spirit of Your priesthood,
That the lips of Your priests might preserve true knowledge,
That You would deign to send faithful workers into Your harvest,
That You would deign to multiply the faithful dispensers of Your Mysteries,
That You would deign to grant them perseverance in the service of Your will,
That You would deign to give them gentleness in their ministry, resourcefulness in their actions, and constancy in prayer,
That through them You would deign to promote the veneration of the Blessed Sacrament everywhere,
That You would deign to receive into Your joy those who have served You well,

Lamb of God, Who take away the sin of the world, spare us, 0 Lord
Lamb of God, Who take away the sin of the world, graciously hear us, 0 Lord
Lamb of God, Who take away the sin of the world, have mercy on us, 0 Lord

Jesus, Our Priest, hear us
Jesus, Our Priest, graciously hear us

Let us pray:
O God, Sanctifier and Guardian of your Church, raise up in her through Your Spirit suitable and faithful dispensers of the holy Mysteries, so that by their ministry and example, the Christian people may be guided under Your protection in the path of salvation. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

O God, who, while the disciples were worshiping and fasting, ordered Saul and Barnabas to be set apart for the work to which You had called them, be present now to Your Church in prayer, and You, who know the hearts of all, indicate those whom You have chosen for ministry. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

(This prayer was prayed in Latin by Pope John Paul II as a seminarian in Cracow,
and often in later life as well.)
