Strong Quake Aftershock Shakes Virginia

A 3.4 magnitude earthquake shook Mineral, Virginia early Thursday morning. It's the latest in a series of aftershocks following last Tuesday's 5.8 magnitude quake that was felt up and down the East coast.

The latest quake struck at 5:09 a.m.today. The epicenter was just four miles from Mineral, Virginia and 81 miles southwest of Washington D.C. There were no reports of injuries or damage. One resident told a local television station that his cat went running for cover during the quake but that he saw no signs of damage to his home.

There have been more than 20 aftershocks since the original quake last week. The aftershocks range from 1.8 to 4.5 in magnitude so today's is staunchly in the middle of the pack when it comes to strength.
