Rupnik and his companions occupy convent near Rome. Cardinal De Donatis is director

 Riccardo Cascioli e Luisella Scrosati

The convent of Montefiolo, in Sabina, where the Pope's former Vicar for Rome has built a luxurious apartment, will become the new headquarters of the former Jesuits of the Aletti Centre. With the relative expulsion of the nuns who live there. Our report.

With the collaboration of Patricia Gooding Williams

"The nuns have gone out, there's nobody here at the moment, I'm just passing through and can't let you in," answers a woman's voice over the intercom. "But can't we just visit the church and the grounds, we’ve heard it's beautiful?" we ask. "No, there's no one here. But we know there are priests... Silence, the conversation abruptly ends. It's Thursday 27 February, and we're standing outside the large metal gate of the convent of the Benedictine Sisters of Priscilla in Montefiolo, in the municipality of Casperia, a small village in the Sabina hills, in the province of Rieti.

We came here because we had been told that Father Marko Ivan Rupnik, the former Jesuit expelled from the Order and accused of the serious sexual abuse of women and nuns, has been residing here for several weeks. Not only that, but he is together with other former Jesuits from the Aletti Centre, once the headquarters of Rupnik and his followers until the abuse scandal broke.

Montefiolo is just a hilltop and the only building is the ancient, majestic convent, which originally belonged to the Capuchin Friars.
It was bought and restored in 1935 by Monsignor Giulio Belvederi. The then Secretary of the Pontifical Institute of Christian Archaeology opened the monastery to a group of women who wished to lead a religious life and who, in 1936, founded the Benedictine Oblates Regular of Priscilla, later to join the Benedictine Congregation. But now, shrouded in a mysterious conspiracy, it is passing into the hands of the small group of former Jesuits, favoured by its location. In fact, surrounded by a high wall and a wood, which separates it from the main road, it is an perfect residence for those who wish to live in

This Week: March’s total lunar eclipse is coming. Here’s how to watch the moon turn red

March’s total lunar eclipse is coming. Here’s how to watch the moon turn red

NEW YORK (AP) — A total lunar eclipse will flush the moon red Thursday night into Friday morning across the Western Hemisphere.

The best views will be from North America and South America. Parts of Africa and Europe may catch a glimpse.

Lunar eclipses happen when the moon, Earth and sun align just so. The Earth casts a shadow that can partially or totally blot out the moon.

Cardinal Müller: Pope and Bishops Distort Truth for Media Approval

We need a reform in the Church, not of the structures, but a renewal of our dfdunderstanding of what the Church is, Cardinal Gerhard Müller, 77, told Michael Haynes, LifeSiteNews.com (February 28).

"We are in an anti-Christian world. We must not make false definitions to please the non-Christians."

The Church is not a secular organization doing good in a social way: "We must not justify the Church in the eyes of the non-believers," he said.

The Cardinal called it "an error within the Church" to present the Church's teaching as a theological theory and in opposition to pastoral efforts.

He went on to warn that "a pope, the bishops or priests want to be loved by the mass media". But: It is more acceptable to lie than to tell the truth, because the latter demands a change of life, Müller explained: "A man who suffers from alcoholism: if you bring him more bottles of wine and beer, then you will be more his friend than if you admonish him."

The same is true in our sexualized world: "If you say that sexuality is only legitimate within legitimate marriage and that all other forms of sexual pleasure outside of marriage are sinful, then you will have many enemies."

The discussions during the ex-synod came, Cardinal Müller said, "from a certain wing with a wrong approach" that is only sociological and psychological, but not based on the faith: "Their deepest desire was to have power over the others and to have a higher prestige in society."

Cardinal Müller's example is that the final document of the ex-synod claims that the open question of women deacons is open: "This is wrong and not dogmatic."

The Pope or an ecumenical council "are dependent on revelation" and "cannot change revelation".

Another example: "The Church cannot declare that marriage can also consist of two men or two women in a homosexual relation and that we have to change some morals."

And, "We cannot establish new doctrines against the authority of the Word of God in Jesus Christ," Müller concluded.

Canada Gives Up Trying to Prove the Mass Graves Hoax

Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau speaks to the press, Tk'emlups te Secweepemc community member,s and First Nations leaders at the Tk'emlups Pow wow Arbour in Kamloops, B,C,, Canada, October 18, 2021. (Jennifer Gauthier/Reuters)

Very quietly, the Canadian government has ended funding for a committee of experts formed to help Indigenous communities find unmarked graves at the former sites of religious residential schools. It marks the end of one of the most disgraceful moral panics in modern history.

In 2021, the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc First Nation made an announcement that radar technology had discovered over 200 human remains in unmarked graves near a Catholic “Indian residential school.” A wave of condemnation spread over the world. “‘Horrible History’: Mass Grave of Indigenous Children Reported in Canada,” reported the New York Times.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau ordered flags to half-staff to honor “215 children whose lives were taken at the Kamloops residential school.” In the following months, 20 announcements of soil “anomalies” discovered by radar near residential-school locations were announced. Soon, news articles about the residential-schools issue in Canada were positing the discovery of thousands of unmarked graves. This, in turn, led to waves of protest and a series of arsons that afflicted 24 churches over the next two years. Pope Francis visited, allowing himself to be used as a prop in the Canadian government’s staged punching of the church, so the government could effectively disclaim its own role in the residential-school system.

In 2021, while making a pro forma condemnation of church burnings, Trudeau still gave a tacit moral endorsement. “It’s real, and it is fully understandable given the shameful history we are all becoming more aware of,” he said. Then, he claimed, “people have gone decades and even generations living with intergenerational trauma, with outcomes and institutional racism that has created extreme difficulties for Indigenous peoples across this country that are also the legacy of residential schools.” The burned churches included those that serve First Peoples congregants today. Canada Day events were canceled as the nation faced what reporters solemnly called a “reckoning” with its settler-colonial and genocidal past.

There’s one problem. It was built on lies. In all the excavations that have been conducted, not a single unmarked grave has been found. Not one. This despite the fact that it would be expected that at some long-abandoned schools, where mortality rates in the late 19th century were abominably high, markers of graves had been lost to time and inattention.

Maryland state house passes bill for condom machines in elementary schools

Maryland Democrats "Clearly In Denial" As State Faces Twin Crises

Television magnate David Smith's purchase of The Baltimore Sun last year has reshaped the paper's editorial direction, focusing on crime coverage in Brandon Scott's crime-ridden Baltimore City and critiquing Maryland's radical Democratic leadership in Annapolis. Under Smith's ownership, the newspaper has intensified its scrutiny of radical progressive policies, contributing to twin economic and energy crises. Further exacerbating Maryland's challenges, the Department of Government Efficiency's downsizing of the federal bureaucracyis expected to spark significant economic headwinds for a state (such as credit downgrade) that relies heavily on federal workers and lacks any real sizeable private-sector economy.

The absurdity in the sanctuary state that prioritizes illegal aliens and transgenders was realized in recent days when radical leftist lawmakers in Annapolis prioritized a bill to install condom machines in elementary schools. These unaccountable politicians purposely overlooked solving the energy crisis that is bankrupting Marylanders at a shocking rate. According to local outlet WMAR, out of 1.3 million power customers in Central Maryland, more than 264,000 are behind on their bills.

Lent: “You are the salt of the earth”

“… men do lose their power of savouring others with righteousness when they are willing to place their eternal welfare in jeopardy for the sake of any temporal advantage.”

From the Holy Gospel according to Matthew
Matt 5:13-19
At that time: Jesus said unto his disciples: Ye are the salt of the earth: But if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? And so on, and that which followeth.

A Homily by St. Augustine the Bishop
Lib. 1 de Sermóne Dómini in monte, cap. 6
The Lord would have us understand how that men do lose their power of savouring others with righteousness when they are willing to place their eternal welfare in jeopardy for the sake of any témporal advantage, like as attainment of ease or luxury, or escape from suffering or toil. For that which is eternal, unlike things of this world, can neither be bestowed by men, nor by them taken away. Hence, when he asketh: If the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? he would have us understand the question to be: If ye, by whom mankind is preserved from corruption, be willing to lose the kingdom of heaven so as to escape trials or persecutions in this world, who is there to preserve you from corruption, seeing ye are they that God hath chosen to preserve all others from corruption?

Those that should be the salt of the earth, but have lost their savour, are thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. But no one that suffereth persecution is truly said to be trodden under foot of men. Rather, that one is truly trodden under foot of men who through fear of persecution hath lost the savour of righteousness. For no one can be trodden upon, unless he be beneath him which treadeth upon him. And certainly no one who hath his heart in heaven, no matter how grievously he doth suffer in his body on earth, is rightly said to be beneath anyone who misuseth him.

Catholics must refuse to accept a public heretic as pope: here’s why

The papacy is not a plaything that can be passed between 'liberal' and 'conservative' factions every time there is an election. Only men who fulfill the criteria that Our Lord established can ever occupy it. The pope must be Catholic. The pope is always Catholic.

"... those professors of Christianity, who turn all eyes on themselves by an eccentric show of groveling and dirtiness, not suffered by necessity, but by their own choice, of them we must judge by their other works"

"...But those professors of Christianity, who turn all eyes on themselves by an eccentric show of groveling and dirtiness, not suffered by necessity, but by their own choice, of them we must judge by their other works whether their conduct really proceedeth from the desire of mortification by giving up unnecessary comfort, or is only the mean of some ambition; the Lord biddeth us beware of wolves in sheep's clothing, but by their fruits, saith He, ye shall know them."

Continuation of the Holy Gospel according to Matthew

Matt 6:16-21
In that time Jesus said to his disciples: And when you fast, be not as the hypocrites, sad. For they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. And so on.

Homily by St. Augustine, Bishop of Hippo.
Bk. ii on the Lord's Sermon on the Mount, ch. xii, tom. 4

It is evident that by these precepts we are bidden to seek for inner gladness, lest, by running after that reward which is without, we should become conformed to the fashion of this world, and should so lose the promise of that blessing which is all the truer and more stable that it is inward, that blessing wherein God hath chosen us to be conformed to the likeness of His Son. In this chapter we will principally consider the fact that vain-glory findeth a ground for its exercise in struggling poverty as much as in worldly distinction and display; and this development is the most dangerous, because it entices under pretence of being the serving of God.

He that is characterised by unbridled indulgence in luxury or in dress, or any other display, is by these very things easily shown to be a follower of worldly vanities, and deceiveth no one by putting on an hypocritical mask of godliness. But those professors of Christianity, who turn all eyes on themselves by an eccentric show of grovelling and dirtiness, not suffered by necessity, but by their own choice, of them we must judge by their other works whether their conduct really proceedeth from the desire of mortification by giving up unnecessary comfort, or is only the mean of some ambition - the Lord biddeth us beware of wolves in sheep's clothing, but by their fruits, saith He, ye shall know them.

The test is when, by diverse trials, such persons lose those things which under the cover of seeming unworldliness they have either gained or sought to gain. Then must it needs appear whether they be wolves in sheep's clothing, or indeed sheep in their own. But that hypocrites do the contrary maketh it no duty of a Christian to shine before the eyes of men with a display of needless luxury the sheep need not to lay aside their own clothing because wolves sometimes falsely assume it.

Islamists massacre 70 Congo Christians and leave headless corpses in church

The Catholic Herald

February 22, 2025 at 11:11 am

A local source in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has confirmed that jihadists left the dead bodies of 70 Africans in a church – many of whom had been beheaded.

Speaking to catholic charity Aid to the Church in Need, the source, who asked to remain anonymous because of fear of reprisals, corroborated reports that at least 70 trussed up corpses were discovered in North Kivu Province last week.

The source said: “On 15th February, 70 bodies were discovered inside a Protestant church.

“Many of them had been bound and some beheaded. Among the victims were women, children and the elderly.”

According to the source, last weekend terrorists from Islamist group Allied Democratic Forces seized around 100 people in Maiba village in North Kivu’s Lubero region.

The source said: “It is likely that these victims were unable to resist or endure the forced march, because when the rebels take hostages, they make them travel with them, either as reinforcements for their group or as forced labour for the war effort.

“When there is loot, they need people to carry it. If you get tired on the way, you’re done. I believe that is what happened to these 70 people.”

The dead bodies were discovered in the Evangelical church in Kasanga just “just a few kilometres away from Maiba”.
