THE DOMINION OF THE BLOOD OF CHRIST

FEAST OF CHRIST THE KING

A homily:

Today is the feast of Christ the King which was instituted to remind us to labor and pray for the “restoration of the Empire of Our Lord.” 

For by His Blood, Jesus Christ purchased all mankind and has full dominion over their minds, hearts, and passions. Christ is the firstborn from among the dead and nothing within all of Creation is exempted from His authority. His reign is full, and His power absolute.

Yet, when we say, “Christ is king,” what do we mean? 

In the Old Testament, God promised King David that his throne would be eternal, it would endure like the sun, and that someone from his bloodline would reign forever. Isaiah prophesied of the coming of this future king, the messiah, when he wrote:

"For a child is born to us and a son is given to us, and the government is upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, God the mighty, the Father of the world to come, the Prince of Peace. His empire shall be multiplied, and there shall be no end of peace. He shall sit upon the throne of David and upon his kingdom; to establish it and strengthen it with judgment and with justice, from henceforth and forever.”

Notice that Isaiah says the future king will “sit upon the throne of David… forever.” Other Old Testament figures, like Jeremiah and Daniel, write similar things of the coming of the king.

In the New Testament, this prophecy was fulfilled at the Annunciation. For Gabriel the Archangel tells the Blessed Virgin Mary that to her Son: “the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of David his father, and he shall reign in the house of Jacob forever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.” 

The Annunciation is the proclamation that the king has come—that the Christ-child, the eternal king, is made flesh. This is why throughout the New Testament people cry out to Jesus under the title: “Son of David”—an acknowledgement of His royal bloodline.

Finally, in the book of Hebrews, we learn that the eternal king, Jesus Christ, is also our eternal high priest. He is both the priest and sacrifice—the lamb that is slain. He is the king who sheds His blood for His people and purchases them for His dominion of peace and charity. For the Father has given him all of Creation, and all things are subject to His empire.

Yet, to the power and might of Jesus Christ, we, his subjects, tell Him the limits of His domain. We place restrictions on His authority and mark off the boundaries of His kingdom. We tell Christ the King, who purchased us by the cross, where His blood does not flow.

We tell the Lord that he is king except for our sexuality. We tell the Lord that His kingdom of order and peace does not extend to the media we consume or to what we watch on the internet. We tell Christ the King that his empire encompasses all except for our corporate life and moneymaking.

To the King who died for us, we tell him what His precious blood does not cover—what is exempt from His rule and reign.

No more is this more true with modern man than in politics. 

We have set aside the reality of the Kingdom of Christ and tell Our Lord that His precious blood did not purchase the public square. This error is not new. In 1925, Pope Pius XI instituted the feast of the “Kingship of Jesus Christ” to remind man that Our Lord held dominion over all men, families, and nations. 

Politics is not exempt from the Precious Blood of Jesus.

Pope Pius XI writes: “It would be a grave error… to say that Christ has no authority whatever in civil affairs, since, by virtue of the absolute empire over all creatures committed to him by the Father, all things are in His power.”

Yet, we have rejected the Kingship of Christ extends to politics. And, as Pope Pius XI notes, by attempting to set boundaries to the kingdom of Jesus Christ “human society is tottering to its fall, because it has no longer a secure and solid foundation.”

We have been told not to proclaim Christ in the public square. We have been told the reality of the empire of our Lord has no claim on politics. We were told that secularism is neutral. That the absence of true religion makes things fair for all. 

This is a lie. There is no neutral.

The evidence is all around us. An absence of Christ does not create neutrality but a vacuum—and in its place new gods have arisen with their own civic religions, anthropologies, definitions, and rituals.

There are no exemptions to the Precious Blood of Jesus Christ. All is within His reign and rule. And we, His subjects, have no power to limit His authority or to hold anything back from His dominion.

We are subjects of an empire of charity. We serve the God of Love. We do not turn to the world to understand what love is—we turn to our King, Jesus Christ. 

We do not attempt to hold back His Precious Blood; rather, we embrace it, we pray for its covering protection. For under the dominion of His blood is true freedom, peace, and happiness.

We should not be ashamed of the Kingdom of Christ. We should not be shamed into silence. 

Who has the authority to tell Christ the limits of His rule? What celebrity, media personality, or politician can tell Jesus, King of the Universe, where the boundary of his authority lies?

Let us make Christ the king of our hearts, of our families, and of our society. His kingdom has no bounds and neither should our faith in Him. Let us offer every aspect of our lives to the dominion of the Precious Blood. Hold nothing back.

Let us pray and labor for the restoration of the empire of our Lord Jesus Christ.

(OSV News) — The University of Notre Damehas updated its recently “refreshed” staff values, not just restoring a direct reference to the institution’s Catholic mission, but making it more prominent than before.

Weeks earlier, the reference had been removed from the list and described instead as an overarching value governing the others.

In a Nov. 21 statement posted to the university’s online hub for staff and faculty communications, Holy Cross Father Robert A. Dowd, the university president, introduced the latest version of the staff values, which largely apply to some 4,500 non-faculty support staff at the university.

The list is now topped by “Catholic Mission,” which calls on staff to “be a force for good and help to advance Notre Dame’s mission to be the leading global Catholic research university.” 

Reasons behind the shift

Father Dowd said in his message that the change was sparked by “some constructive feedback we received.”

BISHOPS WILL CONSECRATE US TO SACRED HEART OF JESUS FOR 250TH ANNIVERSARY OF ITS FOUNDING

BALTIMORE (OSV News) — As the U.S. marks its 250th anniversary next year, the U.S. bishops will consecrate the nation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

The decision was taken during a Nov. 11 session of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops‘ fall plenary assembly in Baltimore.

Ahead of the vote, Bishop Kevin C. Rhoades of Fort Wayne-South Bend, Indiana, chair of the USCCB’s Committee for Religious Liberty, said the consecration would take place at the USCCB’s spring assembly in June 2026, which concludes on the solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Developing prayer resources

“To help Catholics prepare for the consecration, we would develop prayer resources, including a novena that will lead up to the solemnity of the Sacred Heart,” said Bishop Rhoades.

Saint Jerome: The "abomination of desolation" is bad doctrine

At that time, Jesus said unto his disciples: When ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the Prophet, stand in the Holy Place, (whoso readeth, let him understand.) And so on.

But we may also understand by the abomination of desolation, any bad doctrine and when we see such a thing get a standing in the Holy Place, that is, in the Church, and showing itself that it is God, that is, pretending that it is His revealed truth, then will be the time when it will be our duty to flee from Judea into the mountains, that is to say, to leave the letter, which passeth away, and all guise of Jewish superstition, and to hie us unto the everlasting hills, from whence God doth right wondrously cause His light to shine forth. Ps. lxxv. 5. Then will it be our duty to find ourselves under a roof and in an house, wherethrough the fiery darts of the wicked one can never pierce to smite us, and not to come down to take anything out of the house of our old conversation, or to have regard unto those things which are behind but rather to sow in the field of the spiritual Scriptures, that we may reap thereof a bountiful harvest neither to have two coats, that thing forbidden to Apostles. Matth. x. 10.

Martin, LGBT and the Beautiful People

N.B. Lust and centering ideations and lifestyles around it, is essential to the LGBT and contemporary mindset and worldview. Following closely upon that is glorification and idealization of physical beauty and so-called mundane “perfection”. When Christianity fails to evangelize and nature ever abhors a vacuum, paganism inevitably rears its ugly head once again.

People are so exercised about Martins problematic advocacy for LGBT issues specifically, that they have mostly failed to notice that this is only one part of the larger problem with his ministry: his ministry is to be the chaplain for the Beautiful People. Martin is the kind of priest who reliably will show up at high society events like the Met Gala, a socialite who will cultivate relationships with all the Right Sort of people. And Martin sees his ministry in general of basically re-assuring the Beautiful People that Jesus agrees with them, that their values don't even need to be baptized, because they are already fine. Martin's project is to ransack Christianity to find ideas that he can revise so that he can give some sort of spirituality to the value system and worldview of the Beautiful People. Because, after all, since they are the Elite and the Beautiful People, their values are good and set the pace for the rest of society. (A telling story: on Ross Douthat's podcast, Douthat asked Martin what the distinctively Christian contribution to sexuality is, and Martin -- always carefully choosing his words -- said that it was that the Christian message about sex was that it should be a way of "showing reverence to the other." Douthat gently pushed back on this, rightly pointing out that this is just a slightly spiritualized way of putting what most of his Manhattan admirers already think) Martin isn't exactly opposed to people going to Mass. It's just that that kind of Christian discipleship is superfluous for the Beautiful People. And, of course if you are an elegant Manhattanite, the LGBT cause is one of your darlings. So, of course, that cause is going to be one of Martin's darlings, and he's going to do for it what he does for anything else. He's going to tell you how Jesus already agrees with you, because as an elite Beautiful Person, you must be a good person too, and he's going to try to craft a spirituality that fits your values. The really interesting thing about this confirmation episode then, isn't even that it is an LGBT thing. The really interesting thing is that it is a high society event. Martin is the chaplain to the Beautiful People, and Gio Benitez is one of the Beautiful People, so of course the socialite priest Martin is going to be there. One wonders whether the actual Jesus would approve of this rejection of his call to discipleship. One wonders, if the LGBT issues were abstracted out, what Pope Francis would think of a priest who chooses to be the chaplain to the Beautiful People. That certainly wasn't his vision for the Church . . .

BREAKING: US Wins UN Vote to Combat Child P*rn

UNITED NATIONS, November 21 (C-Fam) The U.S. won a key vote against child pornography and pedophilia in the General Assembly’s Third Committee today.

Sixty-eight nations sided with the United States and against the European Union in insisting that all forms of child pornography, including virtual child pornography and sexting must be prosecuted. The Trump administration said this was in line with an international treaty against child pornography launched by the U.S. government over thirty years ago.

Europeans have been trying to legalize some forms of pedophilia like virtual child pornography, sex bots, and other materials that don’t involve real children. They are also in favor of blanket decriminalization of sexting by children, including sexting between kids and adults. But their position is not popular. Only fifty-one nations sided with the European Union. Thirty abstained.

The vote took place when the U.S. proposed a hostile amendment to a resolution on technical cooperation on law enforcement against organized crime. The U.S. amendment added a focus against child pornography to ensure that all United Nations programs to protect children from sexual exploitation are in line with existing international law.

U.S. diplomats explained that the amendment was necessary to give the UN system “parameters” to combat child sexual exploitation that were in line with “Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the Sale of Children, Child Prostitution, and Child Pornography.”

The European Union led the charge against the U.S. position. “The phrase (child pornography) is increasingly considered obsolete and potentially harmful,” said a representative of Denmark speaking on behalf of European Union member states. He said the phrase was therefore being replaced by “child sexual abuse material.” He explained that the “concept of pornography suggests a consensual practice between adults” and that this was unfair to children.

The UN system has been debating replacing the term “child pornography” with “sexual abuse material” since 2017. Europeans have systematically replaced the term in most UN resolutions. The Friday Fax has reported on itsince this debate first developed. It seemed like a debate about semantics until last year after the adoption of a new UN treaty on cybercrime.

The new treaty completely replaced the term “child pornography” with “child sexual abuse material” consistent with what Europeans have been asking for over a decade. But it also expressly allows for the production, dissemination and production virtual child pornography and sexting. This helped all UN member states realize that the debate was always about legalizing some forms of pedophilia and creating a gray zone of sexual autonomy for children.
