Concerned Catholics Urged to attend Charles County Schools Transsexual/Transgender Policy Meeting June 14

On May 23rd, in response to a letter sent to parents of students in Charles County Public Schools, four nervous but courageous women from Sacred Heart Church stepped forward to express their concern to the School Board.   The letter provided guidance about the rights of transsexual students to use a bathroom that corresponds with their gender identity rather than their biological sex.   Not only does this directive cover bathrooms, but locker rooms and overnight accommodations for school trips.

This issue affects not only those with children in the school system but all Christians.  This action further erodes our Christian beliefs and hits at the youngest of our country in an effort to "normalize" this lifestyle choice among them.  Additionally, this directive irresponsibly ignores the very real safety issues this action creates and intrudes upon the privacy of the majority.

We ask for your help to insure we pack the next School Board Meeting on Tuesday, June 14th. at the Jesse L. Starkey Administration Building, 5980 Radio Station Road, La Plata.

5:00 p.m. - Gather to pray the Rosary (in the parking area directly across from the flags).

5:30 p.m. - Sign-ups begin for anyone to make an up to 3-minute Public Forum statement. (Sign ups will close a few minutes before 6 p.m.)

 6:00 p.m.  - School Board meeting begins.

You do not need to have a child in the Charles County school system to attend the meeting or to speak at the Public Forum.
