390 years ago, on this day, the first public Mass was celebrated in English-speaking North America on St. Clement's Island in Maryland.
God rest the souls of Fr. Andrew White, who offered that holy Mass, and of all those intrepid Catholics who paved the way for the ancient Mass we are privileged to pray still.
