As legislators in Annapolis contemplate the moral evil of legalizing assisted suicide

An image of the Ten Commandments, the fifth of which is “Thou shalt not kill.”.

God has Commanded in the Decalogue “Thou shalt not kill”, which we would do well to remind ourselves of as misguided legislators in Annapolis contemplate enshrining in law a supposed “right” for physicians to enable the vulnerable and suffering to violently and immorally end their own lives. No human being on earth has the power, Catholic or not, Christian or not, believer or not, physician or not, suffering or not, to overthrow the laws of God.

So called “physician assisted suicide” is handing a weak and vulnerable human being a loaded gun and allowing them to harm themselves twice: first, by ending their lives through violent and evil means and, second, by disobeying Almighty God. We believe and know that this leads, if done with sufficient reflection and full consent of the will, to the eternal punishment of damnation in a state of separation from God, something every human being deserves to be protected against.

A fragment of the Hippocratic oath on the 3rd-century Papyrus Oxyrhynchus2547.

Any so-called “doctor” who would disobey the Hippocratic oath of “Do no harm” by giving another human being in a weakened and vulnerable state the means to kill themselves  is not worthy of the name. Any lawmakers who would pretend to the right to enshrine within the law so-called “permission” for another human being to kill themselves are deluding themselves and a mortal danger to the citizens they claim to represent.

God’s command “Thou shalt not kill” enjoins the obedience of all and may never be violated by any.
Consult reputable doctors about the humane and abundant means of pain management which makes the killing of the terminally ill non-necessary and do more within your power to encourage this morally upright and truly humane means of assisting the suffering.

Make no mistake: killing is discarding, like trash, another human being equal to every one of us, made in the likeness of God the Creator, like all of us, one who, like all of us, deserves the love of accompaniment all the way to the natural end of life, not to a point arbitrarily determined by another through fatal intervention like the evil designs of a mafia hit man.

Killing, no matter done by who, is always wrong and never necessary. Do better: protect the weak from self-harm and accompany them, by whatever means necessary, which is their right as a human being made in God’s image and likeness, to die a natural death.
