Dear friends of Ignatius Press,
This day marks the 50th anniversary of Ignatius Press
founder and editor Father Joseph Fessio, S.J.’s ordination
to the priesthood.
“You are a priest forever,” declares the Psalmist, “after
the order of Melchizedek” (Ps 110:4).
Prophetically, these words refer to Jesus Christ and
his priesthood, a priestly ministry in which Father Fessio shares.
Fifty years a priest is not “forever,” but it is certainly
a long time, humanly speaking. We thank the Lord
for fifty years of Father Fessio’s priestly ministry. And
we thank Father Fessio for his fidelity as a priest. He
has been a spiritual father to so many people,
including us at Ignatius Press.
Please pray for him and for all those whom
his ministry has touched.
