This photo was taken today at Saint Ann's Catholic Church located at Tenley Circle, NW, in DC.
The US ensign when thus flown upside down is a distress signal. Someone might do well to check on Monsignor Watkins to see if he's okay. Or perhaps he is signaling distress over the deteriorating condition of the Church or the U.S.? Either could be the case as we can all attest.
Let us know if you find out what's up. Or down, as the case may be.
Called them. Mistake. Caretaker was new, foreigner, didn't know about the orientation, was the answer. Has been corrected.
ReplyDeleteA related case, As an active Marine one day I was driving by a US Army Reserve Center and looked up and saw the National Ensign flying upside down....woah..I pulled into the parking lot..walked into the center, announced myself as a Marine, and said: "are you all in trouble? Distress? What's the issue...You're flying our Flag upside down".
Assholes and elbows were immediately in motion.
Lack of love and attention to detail, as was the case with St Ann's.
The good Msgr. should have flown the Vatican flag upside down...
