Canon law stipulates that priests “should” celebrate Mass daily. It is worded thus because it is foreseen that some events may impede a priest completely from doing so. Cessation of public Masses is not one of those things.
I’ve been made aware that some priests have said they’re not celebrating Mass at all, canceling all Masses when the Archbishop indicated there should be no “public” Masses.
There are two kinds of Masses: public and private. When the Archbishop discourages public Masses he is by no means banning private Masses, which should by all means continue.
Let us pray that common sense and grace may prevail.
