"By recalling the commandment, 'You shall not kill,' our Lord asked for peace of heart and denounced murderous anger and hatred as immoral.
"Anger is a desire for revenge. 'To desire vengeance in order to do evil to someone who should be punished is illicit,' but it is praiseworthy to impose restitution 'to correct vices and maintain justice.' If anger reaches the point of a deliberate desire to kill or seriously wound a neighbor, it is gravely against charity; it is a mortal sin. The Lord says, 'Everyone who is angry with his brother shall be liable to judgment.' "

Remember there are ALWAYS two sides to every story and the person who jumps into the gossip on one side or the other may very soon end up with egg on face.
Repeating someone's faults is the sin of detraction and spreading falsehoods is the sin of calumny (cal - um - knee).
Oremus.

In my recent book Taming the Wolf: Resolving the Conflicts Ruining Your Life I combine contemporary conflict resolution concepts with the peacemaking legacy of St. Francis of Assisi.
ReplyDeleteMight be an excellent resource for priests needing to address conflict in a realistic yet spiritually transformative manner.
