Salvation of souls, not Vatican II, is the highest law of the Church

The decrees of the Second Vatican Council are a pastoral help to the church to promote her greatest law, which is the salvation of souls. The fathers of the Second Vatican Council did not personally approve the liturgy of the novus ordo, which was produced by a specious committee after the fact which put Protestantism ahead of Catholic identity and faithfulness to principles of Catholic worship.

Ironically, Cardinal Roche is promoting a liturgy that was crafted in part by Protestants while accusing Catholics who adhere to the Church’s traditional liturgical patrimony of worshipping as “Protestants”. 

Cardinal Roche makes a specious claim that Vatican II, a pastoral and not a doctrinal council, is the highest law of the Church. This attempts an inversion, placing doctrine, theological truth, over praxis, the methods by which truth is preached, taught and acted upon. 

In connection with his exxagerated claims for Vatican II he then attempts to place the new liturgy in the unique position of being the only possible liturgy for the Church. The facts argue otherwise.

Absurd. What was once Catholic, as well as sacred, cannot now, pace Benedict XVI, be no longer Catholic. A simple mental exercise can resolve Cardinal Roche’s dilemma.

Cardinal Roche is attempting an untenable intellectual contradiction. If the new liturgy, which was crafted to avoid offending Protestants, is indeed Catholic as he claims, then the traditional Latin Mass, handed down through the Holy Spirit, is even more Catholic still.

If the traditional liturgy handed down through the Holy Spirit immemorially in the Church is Protestant, how much moreso a new liturgy crafted with the help of Protestants and which eschews certain Catholic principles?

Cardinal Roche cannot have it both ways. He injures his attempt to enforce a liturgy that has never been accepted by everyone in the Church by disparaging its venerable predecessor. Argument based on authority is alien to the  Church. Christ the Lord is truth, and only truth rules with His authority. Cardinals and popes are charged with receiving and handing on the truth. Not replacing or manipulation it as seems to be the case so often now.
