Unlicensed Abortionist Pendergraft Operating Secret Late-term "Fetal Lethal Injection Center" in Washington, DC area, Website Shows

Unlicensed Abortionist Pendergraft Operating Secret Late-term "Fetal Lethal Injection Center" in Washington, D.C. area, Website Shows

Operation Rescue has filed complaints in three jurisdictions to stop Pendergraft from endangering women by killing their babies and forcing them elsewhere for completion of late-term abortions

Washington, DC - Operation Rescue has learned that disgraced late-term abortionist James S. Pendergraft, IV, whose only active medical remains under a double-suspension order in Florida, has set up shop in a secret late-term mill that can only be described as a "Fetal Lethal Injection Center" in the Washington, D. C. metro area where late-term abortions are being only partially completed.

A full report can be read at OperationRescue.org.

Pendergraft has recently launched a web site called LateTermAbortions.net that describes in detail how his new office is soliciting women from all over the nation and from other countries for "intracardiac injection of medication into the fetal heart," which kills the baby in utero.

Pendergraft makes it very clear that he does not complete the abortion process at his secret office, but discharges patients within 15 minutes of the lethal injection, after which they are forced to rush back to their personal physicians in their home states or other facilities for the removal of the dead baby before infection sets in. Without treatment women in this condition can die.

When multi-state late-term abortion operations have been discovered in other states, medical licenses have been suspended, such as in the cases of Steven C. Brigham and Kermit Gosnell. Maryland is considering legislation to ban the dangerous practice of starting late-term abortions in one state and ending them in another.

Pendergraft also makes it clear that the purpose of his multi-state late-term lethal injection scheme is to evade the laws of Florida and compel the participation of others in the abortion process.

In cloak-and-dagger fashion, Pendergraft describes how women will be told over the phone to meet at a specific location, where they will be met and escorted to the secret facility for their baby's fatal injection.

"While Pendergraft attempts to convince the reader this is about security, it is more likely about evading law enforcement, because this dangerous process is highly unethical and likely illegal since he holds no active medical license whatsoever," said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman.

While it remains unknown the exact location of this new mill, descriptions on the website would place it in the jurisdiction of the District of Columbia, Maryland, or Virginia. Pendergraft holds no active license in any of these jurisdictions.

Operation Rescue has filed complaints in the District and both states asking for immediate investigations into Pendergraft's dangerous late-term abortion operation.

Pendergraft has a long history of legal issues that have included four suspensions of his Florida medical license.

"Pendergraft is a proven danger to the public," said Newman. "This is another example of authorities willing to look the other way and abortionists who are willing to endanger women and violate laws because they believe they are somehow above them. We pray our complaints will help stop this abuse and bring Pendergraft to justice."

4th Sunday, OrdTime: “Seek Justice”: the Beatitudes lay the foundation for justice both now and forever

This week we saw two very different kinds of crowds gathering in two different parts of the world. Here in Washington, and in other places around our country, peacable believers marched for the sanctity of every human life. In Egypt and elsewhere, on the other hand, angry and violent mobs attacked police, military forces and government leaders to demand worldly goods like food, jobs and economic improvements.

When we see these events we sometimes wonder: will the meek truly inherit the earth? Can there be justice in this world? Or will only the “violent bear it away”? Do the people in Egypt and in other places racked by violent demonstrations have a better chance at justice? Well yes, sometimes, but only in this world in a limited way, for a very short period, only materially and through visiting injustice or even violent death upon others: the way of the wicked he thwarts.

Action Alert for No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act

Call To Action

January 28, 2011

Dear Friend,

For many years Congress has supported the policy that federal tax dollars should not be used for elective abortions. Each year many provisions must be renewed in law as part of the various annual appropriations bills to maintain this policy. The time is overdue to establish this policy in permanent law in all federal programs. On January 20, Reps. Chris Smith (R-NJ) and Dan Lipinski (D-IL), along with 160 other original co-sponsors, introduced the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act (H.R. 3). The bill number, H.R. 3, is taken from a reserved list that House leadership uses for measures with a high priority.

I urge you to send an e-mail to your Representative with the message: "Please co-sponsor and support H.R. 3. This bill will ensure that taxpayer dollars are not used to pay for elective abortions in any federal program." Please click on the link below to send your message. Please act today!

When first introducing this bill in 2010, Rep. Smith stated: "This legislation would establish a comprehensive policy prohibiting public funding for elective abortion in all federal programs." Rep. Lipinski added: "Protecting the sanctity of life, and preserving the individual's freedom not to be complicit in any way in abortion, is a matter of principle for me and tens of millions of Americans."

At the end of Title I of the U.S. Code, H.R. 3 would add a new chapter: "Chapter 4—Prohibiting Taxpayer Funded Abortions and Providing for Conscience Protection." In addition to the Hyde Amendment that now covers programs funded through the Labor/Health and Human Services appropriations bill, the Act also would make permanent such laws as the Helms Amendment (no funds for abortion as a method of family planning overseas) and the Smith Amendment (no funds for health plans covering elective abortions for federal employees). The Act also codifies the Hyde-Weldon conscience clause that has been part of the Hyde Amendment since 2004.

As always, more information on legislation can be found on nchla.org.

Thanks for all you do in support of life!

Sincerely,

Michael Taylor
Executive Director

A Miracle? Sr. Keehan backs Protect Life Act

Dear Friend of CV,

Ready for more good news?

Our radio ads are running in Pennsylvania and Nebraska, while Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has promised to use procedural moves to force a Senate to vote on 'repeal' of Obamacare.

But there's more.

This week the Catholic Health Association announced that they are now backing the Protect Life Act. The proposal is designed to 'fix' the new health care law by adding explicit prohibitions outlawing all taxpayer funding for abortion -- while adding conscience protections for doctors and health care workers.

You may be wondering why CHA would endorse this new bill given their previous claims that the health care law does not fund abortion. The legislative proposal does include new conscience protections, but still, why endorse legislation you previously argued was unnecessary?

This is where CV may surprise you.

In general when it comes to reforming health care, we agree with the CHA on very little. We fought them during the health care debate last year, and have publicly criticized them since. Even today, CHA remains convinced the law does not fund abortion (they are wrong).

But why thump our chests now that they have done the right thing?

Instead of sneering, we have a different message for the Catholic Health Association: "Whatever your motives, the members of CatholicVote are happy to have your help in getting this legislation passed. Catholics may disagree on how to best provide affordable and accessible health care, but we must be unified in protecting innocent human life!"

We are not in the business of scoring cheap political points, especially with our fellow Catholics. Our differences with the CHA remain, and we will continue to oppose their support of efforts to nationalize the financing and delivery of health care in America.

But for now we need every Catholic voter, organization, and advocacy group behind this bill. This legislation will protect taxpayers like you and me from funding abortion or insurance plans that cover abortion. The act of taking an innocent human life is bad enough. Helping fund it is simply unconscionable.

Last year we asked you to sign a petition to CHA urging them to back this new proposal. Over 93,000 CV friends signed it. And we know CHA was aware of the petition, because their lawyers contacted us about it.

The movement we are building is making a difference.

We thought you would like to know.

Sincerely,

Brian Burch, President

Abortionist Riley Formally Charged by Maryland Board in Illegal Abortion Ring

Abortionist Riley Formally Charged by Maryland Board in Illegal Abortion Ring

January 26, 2011

Also charged with lying about a felony conviction on her Maryland license application; Operation Rescue demands emergency suspension of Riley's Utah license

Baltimore, Maryland - The Maryland State Board of Physicians has issued formal charges against Utah abortionist Nicola Riley, an associate of illegal late-term abortionist Steven Chase Brigham. Her next hearing is scheduled for April 6, 2011.

In the new document filed last week, the Medical Board formally charges Riley with fraudulently attempting to obtain a medical license, unprofessional conduct, aiding an unqualified person in the practice of medicine, and lying on her medical board license application.

Riley's Maryland medical license was suspended last September after she botched a late-term abortion on a woman at Brigham's secret illegal abortion clinic in Elkton where he would ferry women already in the throes of labor from New Jersey, where late-term abortions are illegal.

Brigham has no medical license in Maryland. Riley is accused of aiding and abetting Brigham in the unlicensed practice of medicine there.

After Riley perforated the patient's uterus and pulled out part of her intestine, Riley first contemplated wheeling the semi-conscious woman to the emergency room two blocks away in a wheelchair, but instead persuaded Brigham to drive them there in his private vehicle. Once at the hospital, Riley's suspicious behavior further delayed emergency care for the critically injured woman, who was later airlifted to Johns Hopkins University Medical Center in Baltimore for emergency surgery required to save her life.

Police were notified and raided Brigham's Elkton clinic where they found 35 bodies of illegally aborted late-term babies, but not the medical records related to those abortions.

Riley could still be charged criminally in Maryland and New Jersey.

The Board also details how Riley lied about a previous felony conviction in order to fraudulently obtain licensure in Maryland. Riley attempted to lead the board to believe that she only failed to report a credit card and identity theft ring that was being conducted by enlisted men under her command while serving in the U.S. Army at Ft. Collins, Colorado. However, Riley's records from the Army, which have also been obtained by Operation Rescue, indicate that Riley would personally access names and social security numbers of personnel through her normal duties then would use that information to fill out credit card applications at nearby jewelry stores. Riley would use the fraudulent credit line to procure thousands of dollars of merchandise. Riley was convicted and served over a year at Ft. Leavenworth Military Prison in Kansas, after which she was dishonorably discharged.

Riley attempted to conceal the true nature of her crimes by telling the Board that her military records were sealed due to her "top secret security clearance," which she never had, and by indicating that her records were lost in a fire.

The Medical Board also discovered that Riley lied to gain acceptance at the University of Utah Medical School after her conviction. Riley stated on her application that she completed her tour of duty in 1992 and "left the military with numerous decorations, a multitude of experiences, and friends spanning the globe." She never mentioned that part of her "multitude of experiences" included a year of incarceration in a federal military prison.

Remarkably, in spite of having been declared a danger to the public, Riley continues to abort babies in Utah.

"We call on the University of Utah to strip Riley of her fraudulently obtained medical degree. We have already filed a complaint with the Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing asking for a suspension of her Utah medical license based on Maryland charges. Their slowness in acting to protect women is disturbing," said Newman.

Please contact Noel Taxin of the Utah DOPL and demand an immediate suspension of Nicola Riley's Utah medical license. E-Mail: ntaxin@utah.gov, Voice: (801)530-6621.

2011 March for Life: Hundreds of thousands invisible to and ignored by the anointed media outlets

Offering images here of only some of the hundreds of thousands of pro-lifers who gathered in Washington, DC, on January 24th, 2011, that the so-called "mainstream media" do not want you to know about. Members of Saint John Cantius from Chicago were the most colorful in their yellow clothing and "war paint", bearing balloons and papal flags and also the loudest group at the March, dancing and shouting "We love babies, yes we do!" and drawing a response from the crowd flowing past at this point on Capitol Hill.

The Cusick family and friends of Catonsville, Maryland, came on a bus filled by members of Saint Agnes Parish and led by their pastor Father DeAscanis of the Archdiocese of Baltimore.

The Capitol dome above the thousands filling Constitution Avenue and marching toward the Supreme Court.

A group from Wisconsin bearing this sign from one of many states represented in the March and giving the stamp of a national movement to the forces for life at every stage from conception to natural death in the United States.
Fr Kevin Segerblom, left, and vocations director Fr. Mike Boehling also represented the Diocese of Richmond at the Rally and Mass for Life at the Verizon Center Monday morning.
My friend Caroline Guarno from Jacksonville, Florida, and friends traveled to the March with the Servant Sisters of the Home of the Mother, pictured in the background on right.
"Defund Planned Parenthood" was a prevalent sentiment at the 2011 March for Life.

Former Planned Parenthood abortionist Abby Johnson speaks to young people and families about her conversion to the pro-life cause and urging them to continue and strengthen their efforts to defeat the death mills of Planned Parenthood and the injustice of Roe v. Wade. Christian rock group Barlow Girl performed at the National Youth Rally for Life sponsored by 40 Days for Life near Union Station. Among the signs at the march, some here invoke the Divine Mercy of Christ and mourn over the millions of lives lost through legalized murder of the most defenseless and the weakest human persons among us in the womb since 1973. The thousands will march every year on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade until once again Life is guaranteed in law as a fudamental right for every human being.
