Palm Sunday 2011 "Your will be done": the God-Man gives Himself on the Cross in commitment greater than which cannot be imagined

"Father, not as I will, but as you will".
We live in a society that glorifies a lack of commitment. The ideal life is one we are told in which all options remain open to us at all times despite any promises we may have made in the past.
By necessity every choice we make eliminates other choices. I cannot stay up all night playing video games on Saturday and then get up refreshed and happy to attend holy Mass on Sunday in obedience to the commandment of God that thus I might remain in a state of grace. I cannot asked the person who is speaking to me to believe I am listening if I am texting while she talks. I cannot invest in real relationships if I spend my free time in the virtual world of the internet where I cannot even be sure someone is reading my posts on Facebook.

Defend the Church against the "Double Standard"

|
| Detailed Description |
| DOUBLE STANDARD by Dave Pierre. Here is your resource to defend the Church! Yes, Catholic priests terribly abused minors and bishops failed to stop the harm. Nothing justifies such a wretched evil. However, major media outlets are unfairly attacking the Catholic Church, and this compelling book has the shocking evidence to prove it. Pierre addresses numerous topics, including: cover-ups happening today, but not in the Catholic Church; proof that Catholic clergy do not offend more than teachers and other religious denominations; plus much more. One reviewer has dubbed Double Standard as "a landmark book." Another has written: "If someone attacks you or slanders the Church over the sexual abuse scandal, challenge them to read this book and continue saying such things." Softcover, 160pp. |

October 22 to be feast day of Blessed Pope John Paul II
October 22 in 1978 was the day Pope John Paul II was installed as Bishop of Rome, successor of St. Peter, and head of the Universal Church (he had been elected six days earlier, on October 16).
At the same time, L’Osservatore Romano, the Vatican newspaper, published the opening prayer for the feast day Mass. The prayer — called a “collect” — was written in Latin and translated into several languages, including English:
O God, who are rich in mercy
and who willed that the Blessed John Paul II
should preside as Pope over your universal Church,
grant, we pray, that instructed by his teaching,
we may open our hearts to the saving grace of Christ,
the sole Redeemer of mankind.
Who lives and reigns...
The feast can be celebrated liturgically each year in Rome and Poland.
